Resident at UEA as the 2005 - 2006 Charles Pick Fellow
Brian Chikwava studied for a B.Sc (Hons) at the University of the West of England. In 2004 Brian won the Caine Prize for African Writing with his short story, Seventh Street Alchemy and the following year he was awarded a three-month Charles Pick Fellowship. In 2009 his first novel, Harare North was published in April 2009 by Jonathan Cape. The novel was published in French by Éditions Zoé in 2011. Brian is currently working on another novel. A memoir piece of his, The Fig Tree and the Wasp, was published by Granta magazine in 2009 and one of his short stories included in an anthology of the African short story, published by Granta in 2011.
